Declaring God's Glory

I began with a simple statement
Telling the reporters the same thing I'd been talking and thinking about constantly for the past forty six years.
I told them the real miracle in my life had nothing to do with the operation on my head.
It had to do with something Jesus Christ had done for me two thousand years before, when He died for me and made it possible for me to live and fellowship with Him.
Coming back from a coma it was a true miracle that I'm alive today; declaring God's glory through His son Jesus Christ from heaven above.
The blessings are abundant wisdom and riches in His word.

Troubled Soul

Most of the problems we face today, regardless of how they affect us, are actually spiritually based.

You cannot put a physical bandage on a spiritual problem.

Man cannot put back together what man has torn apart.

Only God can calm the waters and still the worries of a troubled soul.

There comes a time in our life, regardless how rich or intelligent we are, that we must lift our hands to heaven and say:

This situation is out of my hands or this load is too heavy.

Simply Thanks

There's a light at the end of the tunnel
Where I know God is waiting for me
I walk through the tunnel with prayer
And when I reach Him, He sets me free

Praying for wisdom to make a right decision
That affects more then one could count
Praying for hope that love may come
In more then an enormous amount

Thanking Him for blessings
That were so lovingly bestowed
Thanking him for the maps
That kept me on the right road

Many things I've been blessed with
Many things I'm thankful for
I just praise and rejoice in my Lord
And thank Him forevermore

Prayer

It can be said where bended knees
Have touched the barren ground
Where praise and reverence pour forth
His gentle peace is found

Adding yet. Our quiet time
Affords unmeasured grace
It's there the soul surrenders and
Acknowledges His embrace

Another thing. More things are wrought
By a simple prayer
Then man by his strength can achieve
Or by his courage dare.

More can be said. Our prayers transcend
All circumstance and time
When one believes in faith to ask
In Jesus' name divine

So let us now before him bow
In strengthened faith to claim
The shelter of His promises
As we ask in His name

Healing Prayer

Too difficult to bear
And He keep us in His care

To the Lord and He will make it clear

Give Me Your Strength

When troubles come my way
As I in You abide

Give strength that brings a victory
To triumph over trials

Clouds

Have you felt your spirit soar
or reached up to the sky?
Have you wondered at the mastery
of the clouds that drifted by?
Have you marveled at their whiteness
like newly fallen snow?
Have you watched them swirl in darkness
as the wind of winter blows?
Have you glimpsed their time of joy
as they hover over the sea?
Have you seen them shed their tears
for things that could not be?
When you think about the clouds
and how they came to be.
You will see the hand of God
as it rests on you and me.

His Presence

Each day He walks with us
Through our joys and sorrows
He promises his presence
Through all our tomorrows

When life seem too much
Of a burden to bear
We need only look inward
To know his Spirit is there

He comforts and guides u
Through each trial and plight
We've only to ask
To be bathed in His light

This is the first time ever
That I've written you a letter
But I just had to thank you
Now that everything is better

I came to you a while back
So troubled and distressed
I didn't know what course to take
And what action would be best

I told you all my troubles
And I felt your presence near

For keeping me from harm

My Daily Prayer

I turn to the Lord in prayer
I thank Him for keeping me
In His constant care

I pray for humanity this world over
And human needs
He said that He would hear me

Quiet Time

Reach Out

In everyone's life there comes a time
when our faith is put to the test
and we fear that we're losing touch with God
Though we're doing our very best,
it may seem that the world is against us
and there's no one around to care.

But if we just reach out,
we'll find that God is always there.
If we let Him know we need him
and our faith is very strong,
He'll wipe away the cares of the day
and fill our heart with song.

For He is the light in the darkness,
our pillar to lean on.
He gives us strength and courage to carry on.

Life's Wonders

I've never touched a rainbow
And yet I see it there

The wonders of a a rosebud

The glowing far off sunset
Untouched by human hands

The Master Waits

We worry and we're troubled
And strive to run our lives
We're frantic and we're fearful
How I agonize

The sorrow and the misery
I cause myself to bear
When I neglect to go to God
With everything in prayer

He knows my every sorrow
The burdens that I bear
I need only take my problems
And place them in His care

For all my problems
Filled with life's distress
The Master waits to comfort

The Simple Things

A little house - some useful task
And flowers around my door
I do not ask for more

I do not wish for luxuries
But this I hold most dear
A friend who comes to chat

These things bring joy to me

As youth we ofttimes yearn for
Things their cost beyond our reach
But oh how wisely through the years
The deeper values teach

For happiness cannot be found

The Blessed Poet

I hope you gathered from the description that I am "ghost blogging" for a friend of mine named David Hellman. I could tell you about David, but I'd probably mess it up. I'll let David tell his story in his own words:

"In 1965 I was in a sledding accident. I was in a coma for eight weeks and was paralyzed on the right side of my body. It took 4 years to walk and talk again. In 1969 I started school and in 1980 I graduated. I started writing poems in 1980. I write with a joyful heart and like share my poems. We are all blessed with special gifts from God above. Praise God with a joyful heart and you will be happy all the days of your life."

There's a lot about David that words won't do justice. Let's just say he's an amazing guy, who despite his condition, allows God's Spirit to flow through him and touch the lives of everyone around him.

David has written a fair amount of poetry over the years, and rather than posting them all in one long marathon session, I'll be posting them over time. I'll also be adding any new ones David writes from now on.
